AKRON, Ohio – The Akron Zips women's swimming team collected seven additional NCAA B-Cut times (D1 B), bringing the total for the weekend to 14 at the Akron Last Chance Meet on Sunday as senior Paula Garcia (Madrid, Spain), junior Sarah Watson (Winnipeg, Manitoba), junior and Andrea Fischer (Oak Grove, Minn.), sophomore Weronika Gorecka (Wroclaw, Poland) and freshmen Madelyn Gatrall (Windsor, Canada) set qualifying marks.

Watson opened the day with a NCAA B-Cut performance in the 200 Yard Freestyle with a finals time of 1:46.12 which was one second faster than the NCAA standard. In addition, she hit the NCAA standard in prelims with a 1:46.30. Victoria Kaufman used the 200 Free for a season-best 1:49.68 time and claimed runner-up in the finals behind Watson.

Gorecka and Gatrall followed with NCAA qualifying times in the 200 Yard Backstroke as both swimmers shaved almost two seconds off the prelim times. Gorecka won the race with a 1:56.63 D1 B time besting her initial performance of 1:59.77, while Gatrall posted a runner-up finish with a 1:56.77 NCAA mark. Gatrall stopped the timer at 1:58.97 in prelims.

Fischer appeared in the winner's circle, touching first in the 200 Yard Breaststroke with a 2:10.57 time, which was 3.4 seconds faster than the 2:13.97 NCAA qualifying time. The time also marked a career-best effort for Fischer. Madeline Dyer claimed runner-up with a career-best 2:14.46 time.

The Akron Last Chance Meet commenced with several time trials as Gatrall and Garcia setting NCAA B-Cut marks. Gatrall posted a 53.80 in the 100 Yard Backstroke and Garcia went 1:01.56 in the 100 Yard Breaststroke.
