BUFFALO, N.Y. – Sophomore Paige Kalik (Irwin, Pa.) led the Akron women's diving team with a third-place finish in the 3-meter dive at the UB Diving Invite hosted by Buffalo on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Arena Pool and Natatorium.

Kalik used six dives with a 15.6 degree of difficulty in the preliminary round to enter the final round fourth overall with 287.65 points. Kalik improved in the finals, scoring 295.65 points and climbing one spot on the leaderboard. She finished third overall.

Also placing in the Top 5 was senior Andrea Bugariu (Shelby Township, Mich.), finishing fifth overall after 12 dives on the 14.9 difficulty scale. Bugariu ended the preliminary round in ninth place with 275.45 points. She climbed four spots on the leaderboard and finished with 284.85 points.

Senior Megan Nugent (Rochester, N.Y.) and sophomore Emily Walkovich (Sylvania, Ohio) also competed for the Zips. Nugent finished just outside the Top 12 during the preliminary round, landing 13th overall with a 252.50 total score on six dives at 14.7 degree of difficulty, while Walkovich raked 22nd with 196.05 points.

Buffalo's Victoria Franz won the 3-meter diving event with a 336.90 final score. Her 16.9 degree of difficulty dive ranked highest among the 23-diver field. She posted a 337.85 score in prelims.

The UB Diving Invite showcases a different diving event, starting with the 1-meter dive, followed by the 3-meter dive, and ending with the platform dive. Teams begin warm-ups at 9 a.m. each day and prelims are slated to start at 11 a.m. Finals will follow approximately 12:30 p.m. Fans can follow the action live on YouTube Live Stream or scoring via divemeets.com (DiveMeets).

The UB Diving Invite features 33 divers from six Mid-American Conference teams, including host Buffalo (5), Akron (5), Bowling Green (6), Eastern Michigan (8), Ohio (4) and Toledo (5).
