Seven Zips Garner All-Ohio Men’s Soccer Honors

AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron men's soccer squad was well represented when the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association unveiled its 2021 All-Ohio men's soccer selections as seniors Will Meyer (Solon, Ohio), Diogo Pacheco (Lisbon, Portugal) and Daniel Strachan (Lakewood, Ohio) were honored as first-team selections, while sophomore Ryan Kingsford (Herne Bay, England) and freshmen Dyson Clapier (Layton, Utah) and Malik Henry (Hamilton, Ontario) were tabbed Second-Team All-Ohio selections.
Additionally, Meyer, Pacheco and junior Carlo Ritaccio (Westbury, N.Y.) were recognized as First-Team Academic All-Ohio recipients.
Meyer, who garnered Third-Team United Soccer Coaches All-North Regional accolades on the field, started all 18 matches for the Zips this season en route to recording 45 saves and posting a 1.06 goals against average while garnering six shutouts. He ranked 36th in the NCAA in shutouts (6), 37th in minutes played (1,696:54) and 58th in goals against average (1.06), while finishing fourth in the MAC in saves (.692) and saves per game (2.50) and fifth in goals against average (1.06) and shutouts (.333). In conference-only affairs, he led the MAC in shutouts (.333), while rating fourth in goals against average (1.60) and saves per game (2.83) and fifth in saves (.630).
A United Soccer Coaches Third-Team All-America and First-Team Scholar All-America honoree, Pacheco was tabbed a First-Team All-Mid-American Conference honoree this fall for the second time after starting 11 of the 17 games he appeared in for the Zips. He registered team-high marks in goals (7), assists (7), points (21), shots (48), shots on goal (14) and game-winners (2). He ranked 53rd in the NCAA in assists (7), 57th in points (1.24) and shots per game (2.82) and 59th in assists per contest (0.41), while finishing second in the MAC in points (1.24), third in assists (.412), goals (.412) and shots (2.82) and eighth in game-winners (.118). In league-only affairs, Pacheco led the conference in goals (.667), while rating third in shots (3.33), fourth in game-winners (.167) and fifth in assists (.333) and shots on goal (1.00).
A team captain, Strachan started all 17 matches that he appeared in for Akron. He helped anchor a Zips' defensive unit that posted six shutouts on the campaign, while adding a goal and an assist on the strength of six shots, including a pair on goal.
Hauling in All-MAC honors for the first time was Kingsford, who started 17 of Akron's 18 contests on the campaign. He ranked second on the team in goals (6), points (16) and shots on goal (13), while rating fourth in assists (4) and shots (28) en route to ranking fifth in the conference in goals (.333) and in points (0.89) and 10th in game-winning goals (.111). In league-only games, he ranked fourth in game-winners (.167), seventh in goals (.333) and eighth in points (0.83).
Clapier has started 17 of the Zips' 18 games en route to earning Second-Team All-MAC accolades for the first time and ranks third on the team in shots (31) and shots on goal (12), while adding four goals and three assists on the campaign.

He helped anchor a Zips' defensive unit that posted six shutouts on the campaign, while adding a team-high seven assists on the strength of six shots, including three on goal. He ranked second in the MAC in assists per game (.412).
Ritaccio appeared in 12 games for the Zips this past season, including six starts. He registered three goals on the strength off five shots, including three on goal.
