Â
About the Zips
Akron returns 24 swimmers and divers, including the 2021 Mid-American Conference Swimmer of the Year senior Sara Watson (Winnipeg, Manitoba), as well as the complete cast that claimed All-MAC honors from a season ago – First-Team, senior Andrea Fischer (Oak Grove, Minn.), senior Paula Garcia (Madrid, Spain), senior Olivia Gardner (Bromsgrove, England), junior Weronika Gorecka (Wroclaw, Poland), junior Rachel Schiffli (Indianapolis, Ind.), sophomore Rachel Sabotin (Columbus, Ind.), Second-Team, senior Brooke Lamoureux (Victoria, Canada), senior Lauren Cooper (Dublin, Ohio) and sophomore Madelyn Gatrall (Windsor, Canada).
Â
The Zips welcome seven newcomers as freshmen Dinica Bosman (Hilton, Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa), Kendall Craig (Evans City, Pa.), Abigail Daniel (Bristow, Va.), McKenzie Dunigan (Oviedo, Fla.), Julia Mauter (Winter Springs, Fla.), Grace Nuhfer (Indianapolis, Ind.) and Laurel Smith (Knoxville, Tenn.) will make their debuts for the Blue and Gold.

The Zips are seeking their eighth MAC title in nine years this season as the program completed seven consecutive title runs under ninth-year head coach Brian Peresie. In 2021, Akron finished runner-up at the MAC Swimming and Diving Championships, marking the first time in Coach Peresie's tenure that the Zips were outscored at the season finale. Buffalo claimed the title by a 773-766 score at Eastern Michigan's Jones Natatorium.
