Â
First off, are you and your family doing well?
We are all doing amazing.
Â
Where are you currently?
At home in Beloit, Ohio.
Â
Talk about the importance of having your family around.
Family is everything. My family pushes me every day to be better than I was the day before. I haven't been able to connect with my teammates in person so, my family has taken on that role. My family is my support and motivation during this tough time. Family is the most important thing in my life. I'm grateful every day for the family I was blessed with from God.
Â
Describe what it has means to be a Zip.
Being a Zip means remaining tough during challenging times. A Zip has the perseverance and persistence to conquer any challenge that is placed in their path. They also have a family of others around them to motivate and help through each obstacle. Zips rise together!
Â
How are you feeling knowing that you'll be back on campus soon?
I'm excited to return to campus to reunite with all my brothers on the football team. I can't wait to get back and start preparing for the upcoming season together.
Â
What is daily life like knowing that you have been expected to stay inside?
It has been different, and I have had a lot of internal questioning. I used this time to figure out who I really was without anything that I had previously tag myself, too (ex: athlete). The time has allowed me to better myself and understand who I truly am.
Â
What are some of the things you have been doing lately to maintain and/or build your fitness for the anticipated return of sports this fall?
I have been running and lifting with the workout that was provided to us by the football strength staff.
Â
Favorite summertime activities?
Golfing and shooting guns.
Â
What are some shows or movies that you have enjoyed watching while in quarantine?
The movies/shows I've enjoyed include: The Last Dance, The Wrong Missy, Brian Banks, & Greater.
Â
What was your favorite class you took this past year or during your time at Akron (feel free to name instructor)?
Policing Administrators & Management: Dr. Licate
Discuss your communication with your teammates around the world and back here in Ohio during this time.
We have used a multitude of different communication apps. Some of those include Webex, House party, FaceTime, and text messaging.
Â
Is there a lesson that you have learned during quarantine that will help you as we move forward towards the new normal with the return of classes and sports?
The biggest lesson I have learned during this time is how to push yourself when you feel like no one else is there with you. It has helped me to realize that internal passion you must have in order to be successful at whatever you do in life.
