AKRON, Ohio - We continue updates from across the country and the world in what we like to call Postcards from The Zips. Up next, from men's soccer is Akron senior David Egbo (Enugu, Nigeria).
Â
First off, are you and your family doing well?
My family and I are doing well.
Â
Talk about the importance of having your family around and knowing that you are safely back home with them?
Having my family around has an immense effect on me, it helps to know that my loved ones are safe and healthy.
Â
Discuss your feelings as the events were occurring that ultimately led to the cancellation of spring sports and you returning home?
I was disappointed, but I hurt more for the spring sports teams because their seasons were cut short, especially our men's basketball team.
Â
What are some of the things you have been doing lately to maintain and/or build your fitness for the anticipated return of sports this fall?
I have been keeping fit by doing the workouts Tim (Campbell) has been sending out along with my own personal stuff too.
Â
Favorite summertime activities?
I don't have any specific favorite summer activity, but I do enjoying getting to hang out with friends and relaxing.
Â
What are some shows or movies that you have enjoyed watching while in quarantine?
The best movie I have seen so far in quarantine is Extraction and while I haven't seen that many shows in quarantine, I really enjoy watching Two and a Half Men.
Â
Talk about your excitement of seeing live soccer return recently in Bundesliga?
To be honest, I don't really follow the Bundesliga a lot, but not having fans around at games is very different.
Â
What was your favorite class you took this past year or during your time at Akron?
I have enjoyed all my classes and instructors so far in my time at Akron.Â
Â
Is there a lesson(s) that you have learned during quarantine that will help you as we move forward towards the new normal with the return of classes and sports?
I have learned a lot but the most important one is to always appreciate the time with family.
Â
Discuss your communication with your teammates around the world and back here in Ohio during this time?
I try to stay in touch with my teammates as much as I can, but we are all in different places of the world across different time zones, so it's kind of hard, but we are trying our best to stay in touch.
Â
Can you describe what it has means to be a Zip, especially during this time?Â
Being a Zip during this time is like being a Zip every other time, as we continually strive to be the best person we can be, no matter what.
