First off, how are you and your family doing?
Really good. We are getting to spend a lot of quality time together at home and at our cabin in Wisconsin.
Â
With some time to reflect and hopefully time spent with your family back home, have you been able to wrap your head around what has occurred?
Yes, it still is hard to believe. When this whole situation started forming, I was not expecting it to ever be this extreme.
Â
Talk about the importance of having your family around and knowing that you are safely back home with them.
It's very nice and relaxing to be back home with my family. It has really shown me how much I take family time for granted.Â
Â
What is daily life like back home this week knowing that you're expected to stay inside your homes?
First off, I will be doing a lot of homework. Also, I'll be going on some bike rides and getting some workouts at home. I'll also make sure to get some hitting in as well.
Â
Discuss your feelings as the events that ultimately led to the cancellation of spring sports and you returning home.
It's nice to be home, but ultimately, I miss baseball. It's really hard dealing with the fact that we worked so hard to just get sent home. We went from practicing, lifting, and training every day to going home and being stuck inside. It's been a really tough transition, but staying positive is crucial.
Â
Discuss your communication with your teammates around the world and back here in Ohio during this time.
I have made sure to stay in touch with my teammates during this time. Not every day, but just keeping up, and touching base with them is very important in my opinion.
Â
Describe what it means to be a Zip, especially during this time.
All my teammates and I have a chip on our shoulder looking into next season. We started the season off to a slow start, so this just gives us an opportunity at a fresh start next year. We have a lot to look forward to, knowing what the Division I competition and routine is like now.
