• First off, how are you and your family doing?
Â
My family and I are doing well. We are all enjoying our time together. We are all healthy and just trying to stay home.Â
Â
• With a few days of reflection and hopefully time spent with your family back home, have you been able to wrap your head around what has occurred or is it still too soon?
Â
What has happened is something that I don't think anyone saw coming. This is definitely something that will be talked about for a long time, and we are living it. It was very unfortunate for our season to be cut short, but given the magnitude of the situation I am not at all surprised.Â
Â
• Talk about the importance of having your family around and knowing that you are safely back home with them?
Â
Being seven hours away from home is not easy, and I do not get to see my family as much as I'd like. Being home and staying healthy are my top priorities at the moment. It is so important to have people to talk through this tough time, and although we should all stay at home, there are many ways to keep in contact with everyone else. Â
Â
• What is daily life like back home this week knowing that you're expected to stay inside your homes? Feel free to site specific examples.
Â
Being stuck in the house is definitely driving me insane! I've tried to keep myself busy. I have watched all of "Breaking Bad" and managed to build a pitcher's mound to practice on with my dad and brother. Â
Â
• Discuss your feelings as the events of March 12 were occurring that ultimately led to the cancellation of spring sports and you returning home?
Â
Although I am not happy about how things unfolded, I realize the importance of the situation and believe all of the right moves were made. Â
Â
• Discuss your communication with your teammates around the world and back here in Ohio during this time?
Â
Our whole team has kept in contact through group chats and facetiming. It is weird not seeing those guys everyday now, but I am glad we are all staying safe. Â
Â
• Can you describe what it has means to be a Zip, especially during this time?Â
Â
Being a Zip is like being in a big family. Although what we are going through is not what anyone wants to be doing, we are all staying strong and together, and we will weather this storm.
