LEXINGTON, Ky. – Freshmen Jennifer David (Hudson, Ohio) and Jessica Hahn (Canton, Ohio) led the Akron women's golf team to a 10th place finish at the 2019 Bettie Lou Evans Invitational as the freshmen duo finished 22nd and 29th, respectively.

David led Akron's scoring with rounds of 78 (+6), 70 (-2) and 76 (+4) for a 224 (+8) tournament total. During the second round, she recorded a career-low 2-under par 18-hole score that consisted of 11 pars and five birdies mixed with a bogey and double bogey. David recorded 32 pars and eight birdies throughout the 54-hole event en route to the 22nd place finish.

Hahn was the low-scorer for the Zips during opening round play. She carded scores of 75 (+3), 74 (+2) and 76 (+4) for a 225 (+9) final tally. Hahn recorded 33 par scores with six birdies, including a eight-straight even-par scores during round two. Hahn tied for 29th overall with the 9-over par effort.

The Zips posted a 301 (+13) final round to bring their tournament total to 903 (+39) as sophomore Ivana Shah (Mumbai, India) led Akron's final round scoring efforts. Shah fired a 1-over par 73 with 13 par scores and a pair of birdies. Shah bounced back from an 81 (+9) opening round with the 75 (+3) and 73 (+1) scores to finish tied at 48th overall with a 229 (+13) ledger. In addition, sophomore Jacinta Pikunas (Youngstown, Ohio) also tallied a 229 (+13) tournament total with rounds of 80 (+8), 73 (+1) and 76 (+4), finishing 48th overall.

Rounding out the Zips' scoring was freshman Riley Dean (Lewis Center, Ohio) with a 233 (+17) effort. Dean posted rounds of 77 (+5), 79 (+7) and 77 (+5) to finish tied at 58th overall.

For the second consecutive year, Kentucky claimed the top team title with a 5-under par 285-287-287 – 859 total. Rutgers earned runner-up honors with a tournament-best 18-hole score of 281 (-7) on the final day, surging into second place at 295-298-281 – 874 (+10).

Pilar Echeverria (Indianapolis) won individual medalist honors at 5-under par, 70-71-70 – 211, while Carrie-Ann Lee (Rutgers), Sarah Willis (Penn State) and Carlota Palacios (Tulane) tied for runner-up honors at 3-under par (213).

The Zips will be back in action when they host the MAC Fall Preview at Silver Lake Country Club in Silver Lake, Ohio on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 7-8.
