State College, Pa. – The Akron Zips women's golf team climbed three spots on the team leaderboard to enter the final round of the Nittany Lion Invitational seventh overall (+38, 311-303 – 614) fueled by sophomores Ivana Shah (Mumbai, India) and Jacinta Pikunas (Youngstown, Ohio).

Shah and Pikunas, each, cut five strokes from their opening round score. Shah finished the initial 18 holes with a 78 (+6) and Pikunas shot 79 (+7). Shah bounced back with a 73 (+1) ledger and Pikunas registered a 2-over effort to lift the Zips, team scoring. Shah is currently ranked tied for 20^th on the player leaderboard while Pikunas sits tied at 30^th overall with 151 (+7) and 153 (+9) scores, respectively.

Freshman Jennifer David (Hudson, Ohio) led Akron's first round scoring, posting a 75 (+3) score in her collegiate debut. She followed with a 79 (+7) score, bringing her tournament total to 154 (+10). David enters the final round tied at 34^th overall.

Rounding out Akron's scoring were freshman Riley Dean (Lewis Center, Ohio) and junior Abbie Pearce (Green, Ohio). Dean carded scores of 79 (+7) and 77 (+5) for a 44^th place tie at 156 (+12) while Pearce recorded 81-82 -163 (+19) scores for a 67^th place stalemate.

Pennsylvania leads the team scoring by three strokes with a 292-288 – 580 (+4) tournament total, edging second-best Seton Hall 298-285 – 583 (+7). Penn State currently ranks third overall, 296-291 –587 (+11).

Leading the individual scoring is Seton Hall's Madeline Sager with a 5-under par tournament total (69-70 – 139). Sager's teammate Samantha Staudt follows with a 3-under par ledger, 72-69 – 141.

The final round of the Nittany Lion Invitational is scheduled for split tee times off holes No. 1 and 10 starting at 8 a.m. The Zips will start on the 10^th tee beginning with Pearce at 8:56 a.m. followed by Dean (9:04), David (9:12), Pikunas (9:20) and Shah (9:28).
