Eldesouky's School-Record Mark Headlines Zips' Efforts at Beach Invitational

LONG BEACH, Calif. – University of Akron redshirt sophomore Hesham Eldesouky (Nasr City, Egypt) recorded a school-record mark of 52-5.25 (15.98m) in the men's triple jump to headline the efforts of the Zips' track and field team at the Beach Invitational hosted by Long Beach State on Saturday, April 20.
Eldesouky's jump was good for a seventh-place performance in the event for Akron.
Senior Jordan Latimer (Huber Heights, Ohio) equaled a career-best mark of 26-3.75 (8.02m) en route to winning the men's long jump with the fifth-longest mark in the NCAA this season.
Senior Matt Ludwig (Chardon, Ohio) recorded a second-place performance in the men's pole vault eclipsing 18-7.25 (5.67m).
Senior Lucy Bryan (Bristol, England) placed third in the women's pole vault surpassing 14-1.75 (4.31m).
Senior Mackenzie Andrews (Toowoomba, Australia) registered a third-place finish in the women's 800 meters crossing the line in 2:08.55.
Redshirt freshman Noah Williams (Hilton, N.Y.) recorded the fourth-fastest time in outdoor program history in the men's 400 meters crossing the line in 47.19 to place third.
Senior Dara Perry (Akron, Ohio) posted a time of 13.51 to finish sixth in the women's 100-meter hurdles.
Freshman Amir Willis (Cincinnati, Ohio) garnered a career-best time of 21.25 to finish seventh in the men's 200 meters.
The men's 4x400 relay squad of freshman Zach Robinson (Pickerington, Ohio), Willis, Malcom Briley (Pickerington, Ohio) and Sam Janson (Dayton, Ohio) recorded a season-best time of 3:14.39 to earn a second-place performance.
Akron returns to competition next weekend participating in the LSU Invitational, Jesse Owens Classic and Hillsdale College Gina Relays.
