Akron Shaves 14 Strokes Off Second Round Score at 50th Furman Intercollegiate

Greenville, S.C. – The Akron men's golf team improved by 14 strokes during the second round of the 50th Furman Intercollegiate on Saturday as senior Elliott Grayson (Shelby, N.C.) and sophomore Fabian Sunden (Sweden) led the Zips to a 293 (+9) team tally with a pair of 1-over par efforts.

Akron climbed one spot on the team leaderboard to 14th overall with a 307-293 – 600 (+32) team total at the Furman University Golf Course, a par 71 course that spans 6,994 yards.

Sunden leads the team scoring after posting a 72 (+1) score in round two. He carded six pars, four birdies and an eagle to move 20 spots up the leaderboard. Sunden opened the 54-hole event with a 76 (+5) and is currently ranked tied for 45th overall with a 148 (+6) tournament total. Sunden has 16 par scores, six birdies and an eagle in 36 holes of play.

Also posting a 1-over par 72 second round score was Grayson. He registered five pars, 5 birdies and an eagle en route to climbing 23 spots on the leaderboard to be tied at 60th with a 78-72 – 150 (+8) total.
