FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – University of Akron track and field junior Lucy Bryan (Bristol, England) eclipsed 14-2.50 (4.33m) en route to earning the top-collegiate finish in the women's pole vault invitational on the final day of the Tyson Invitational hosted by Arkansas on Saturday, Feb. 9, to headline the Zips' performances.

Bryan placed third in the event that also featured senior Eboni Hall (Pickerington, Ohio), who bested the bar at 13-2.50 (4.03m) to finish ninth.

"We had some tough competition this weekend," Akron head coach Dennis Mitchell commented. "Hopefully this will set us up for nationals and for the MAC Championships. It was a great mark for Mackenzie Andrews in Boston and it looks like that has a very strong chance of going to nationals. We also had some good performance at Kent, which was good for the team as it allowed us to compete on the conference track."
Redshirt sophomore Hesham Eldesouky (Nasr City, Egypt) earned a fourth-place showing in the men's triple jump with a mark of 50-6.75 (15.41m), the third-best performance in men's indoor program history.

Freshman Nuh Andu (Doha, Qatar) placed second in the men's high jump registering a mark of 6-11.50 (2.12m), while in the men's invitational high jump, senior Curtis Richardson (Blacklick, Ohio) surpassed 6-11.50 (2.12m) to place seventh.

Redshirt junior Maike Anstett (Karlsruhe, Germany) posted a mark of 39-4.50 (12.00m) in the women's triple jump, while redshirt sophomore Abby Helminiak (Toledo, Ohio) eclipsed 13-2.50 (4.03m) in the women's collegiate pole vault.

Akron returns to competition hosting the Zips Invitational on Friday, Feb. 15 at the Stile Athletics Field House.
