Zips Ranked No. 23 in Final CSCAA Poll

CSCAA RELEASE
AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron women's swimming and diving team is ranked No. 23 in the latest College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) NCAA Division I women's TYR Top 25 Dual Meet Poll, released on Feb. 13. This is the final poll of the season.
This marks the Zips' third appearance all-time in the CSCAA poll. Akron achieved its highest ever ranking, at No. 22 earlier this season in a poll released on Oct. 24, 2018. The Zips received their first ever national ranking a season ago, as they were rated No. 24 in the CSCAA's top 25 poll released on Jan. 31, 2018.
All five of Akron's relays rank among the top 35 in the nation. Its 400 freestyle relay team of freshman Sarah Watson (Winnipeg, Manitoba), seniors Ragen Engel (Springfield, Ohio) and Sadie Fazekas (Windsor, Ontario) and freshman Sofia Henell (Linkoping, Sweden) rates 20th. The team swam a record-breaking time of 3:17.02 at the Shamrock Invite on Jan. 26. The Zips' 200 free (1:29.94) and 800 free (7:12.20) relays rank No. 20 and 23, respectively.
Additionally, Akron's 200 medley relay rates No. 29, while its 400 medley relay ranks No. 33.
Individually, Watson's time of 52.44 in the 100 butterfly ranks No. 26 nationally, while sophomore Paulina Nogaj (Radom, Poland) rates 27th in the same event with a time of 52.47.
Akron is set to compete at the Ohio State Winter Invitational, Feb. 16-17, before returning home to host the Mid-American Conference Championships, Feb. 27-March 2, at Ocasek Natatorium.
