DAYTON, Ohio – **Due to an official scoring error, junior Fabian Sunden (Sweden) had an inaccurate final round scorecard which required a two-stroke adjustment from the original 1-over par 72 tally to a 1-under par 70 final round score on Tuesday.

As a result, Sunden moved to 12th overall on the players' leaderboard with a 77-74-70 – 221 (+8) 54-hole performance. In addition, the scoring error impacted the Zips final team total and placement. Akron moved to 9th in team scoring with a 312-297-304 – 913 (+61) team effort.

For the third straight tournament, Sunden led the Akron men's golf team in scoring. He opened the event with rounds of 77 (+6) and 74 (+3) before registering the 1-under ledger at the Par-71, 7,048-yard NCR Country Club (South Course).

During the final round, he carded his first eagle of the season on the par-5, 558-yard sixth hole to go along with a pair of birdies and 12 par scores. Sunden shot 1-under par on the front-9 with five pars, a birdie, and an eagle while collecting an even-par ledger to finish the round. For the tournament, Sunden posted 38 pars, three birdies and an eagle.

Senior Mitchell McFarland (Wheelersburg, Ohio) followed in scoring 79-72-77 - 228 (+15) for Akron, placing tied for 35th overall. He recorded 29 par scores and six birdies, while sophomore Ignacio Puente (Seville, Spain) finished the 54-hole event third for Akron. Puente fired back-to-back 76 (+5) scores to recover from an opening round 81 (+10) total. His 20-over effort landed him tied at 53rd overall.

Sophomore Beau Bayerl (Ashland, Ohio) and freshman Braden Smith (Sterling, Ohio) both finished tied at 61st with 236 (+23) performances. Bayerl used rounds of 76-79-81 and Smith entered rounds of 80-75-81. In addition, freshman Quinn Patterson (Columbus, Ohio) posted a 79-84-78 – 241 (+28) for 71st place as an individual.

The Zips are scheduled to wrap-up the fall schedule in Outer Banks, N.C. as Akron is set to play Kilmarlic Golf Course for the ODU/OBX Intercollegiate. The three-day event is slated for Sunday through Tuesday, Oct. 20-22.
