BLACKSBURG, Va. – University of Akron track and field senior Mackenzie Andrews (Toowoomba, Australia) ran a school-record time of 4:40.13 in the women's mile at the Hokie Invitational hosted by Virginia Tech on Friday, Jan. 18.
Andrews bettered her own school-record time of 4:40.75 set at the Husky Classic on Feb. 10, 2018 en route to placing third in the event. Her mark also represented the sixth-fastest time in the NCAA this season.
The Hokie Invitational concludes for Akron on Saturday, Jan. 19 with sophomore Leah Recker (Findlay, Ohio) in the women's 800 meters at 1:15 p.m. and junior Alyssa Thomas (Uniontown, Ohio) running in the women's 5,000 meters at 2:10 p.m.
