USMNT U-19/U-20 ROSTER RELEASE
AKRON, Ohio - University of Akron men's soccer freshman Carlo Ritaccio (Westbury, N.Y.) has been named to the United States U-19 Men's National Team for the upcoming 2018 U-20 Men's Invitational tournament at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. from Sept. 7-11.
The U.S. U-20 and U-19 Men's National Teams will face Venezuela and Jamaica, as well as square off against each other in the round-robin style competition.
"I am honored to be called into this camp with such a talented group of players," said Ritaccio. "I hope that this camp will allow me to grow as a person and as a player. I have to thank the coaching staff and my teammates at the University of Akron for pushing me to get to this point and I hope that I can bring my experience to the field with the Zips. I'm really excited for what there is ahead for us this season."
Each of the match days – Sept. 7, 9 and 11 – will feature a doubleheader (11 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. ET) with the U-20 MNT playing the second game each day. The winner of the competition will be based on total points. Tie-breakers will first be overall goal difference and then total goals scored.
"I think it is a great honor to continue to have players recognized from our program," Akron head coach Jared Embick commented. "He has gotten off to a good start, so I think that helped him get the call up. He hasn't been there since residency, so I think for him it is important to get in there and show his progress, and show what he is capable of. Hopefully his confidence will continue to grow and he'll come back to us stronger."
