CLEVELAND – University of Akron redshirt senior Sophia Geier (Burgebrach, Germany) has been named the Mid-American Conference Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday.

Geier registered straight set wins in each of her three victories.
In doubles action, the veteran teamed with true freshman Holland Long (Rochester, N.Y.). The duo went 2-1 at No. 2 doubles in Long's collegiate debut.
Geier earned a bachelor's degree in sport management in May 2018. She sports a 3.919 grade-point average and is pursuing an M.B.A.
Geier is the second Zip to earn the weekly MAC academic honor this fall. Junior linebacker John Lako (Monroe, Mich.) was recognized last week.
