Akron’s Nick Gasser Earns MAC Honors

CLEVELAND – University of Akron senior P/PK Nick Gasser (Liberty Township, Ohio) has earned Mid-American Conference Special Teams Player of the Week honors for the East Division, the league announced on Monday.
In Akron's 41-7 win over Morgan State, Gasser converted two field goals and four extra points (10 points). His field goal makes were 24 yards and 30 yards. He also had one punt for 47 yards which landed within the 20.
In the MAC stats, Gasser is No. 1 in field goals (2.00), No. 1 in field goal percentage (.667), No. 1 in PAT kicking (100.0), and No. 2 in scoring [kicks] (10.0).
Gasser is the first Zip to earn MAC honors this fall. The MAC honor is his fifth as he earned Special Teams Player of the Week honors four times in 2017.
Under the guidance of seventh-year head coach Terry Bowden, Akron (1-0 overall) travels to Northwestern (1-1 overall) on Saturday, Sept. 15, for a 7:30 p.m. ET game on the Big Ten Network.
Season ticket plans—which include a ticket to all home games as well as a parking pass— start at only $60 each. As a season ticket holder, fans have the ability to purchase tickets for road games at Northwestern and Iowa State.
