AKRON, Ohio – The Akron men's golf program is scheduled to host the annual golf outing at Firestone Country Club, The Invitational 2018, on Tuesday, Sept. 18, Zips' head coach David Trainor announced.

"It is our goal to bring together alumni, friends, and corporate partners for a day of fun, with a little competition and grow the overall support for our program," Trainor said.

Space is limited, so all are encouraged to register quickly to reserve your spot. This year's Invitational will be held on Firestone Country Club's West Course with a 100 player maximum capacity.

On Tuesday, Sept. 18, registration and buffet luncheon begins at 11 a.m. in the Firestone Clubhouse. The range will also be opened for participants at 11 a.m. followed by a 1 p.m. shotgun start. Social hour will follow play around 5:30 p.m. with heavy hors d'oeuvres and prizes at the Firestone Clubhouse.

There are many ways you can participate, from playing as part of a foursome to taking part in one of the many sponsorship opportunities for the event. If you are unable to participate in this year's outing, please consider making a gift to the men's golf enhancement fund.

The cost for The Invitational is $350 per golfer or $1,300 per team, which includes golf, cart, food, beverages, and the tee prize package. There are a variety of sponsorship opportunities are also available; for details, please see The Invitational 2018 Brochure (PDF).
