ASHLAND, Ohio – The University of Akron track and field team garnered four first-place finishes and 26 top-five performances, led by senior Stephanie Hale (Cleveland, Ohio) earning victories in the women's 100 and 200 meters on the final day of the Ashland Alumni Open on Saturday, April 28.
Hale won the women's 100 and 200 meters crossing the line in 12.47 and 25.03.
Sophomore Tanea Cousins (Chillicothe, Ohio) won the women's triple jump with a mark of 35-5.75 (10.81m).
Redshirt sophomore Cole Wigal (Belpre, Ohio) took the men's pole vault eclipsing a career-best 16-2.75 (4.95m).
Additionally, redshirt freshman Matt Blamble (Wadsworth, Ohio), redshirt junior Tristan Williams (Akron, Ohio) and junior Kamar Majid (Akron, Ohio) finished second in the men's 200 meters (22.13), 800 meters (1:55.94) and long jump (21-9.00/6.63m), respectively.
Placing second in the women's 400 meters (59.18), 400-meter hurdles (63.21) and discus were sophomores Bailey Lack (Brunswick, Ohio) and Iman Batiste (Dublin, Ohio) and junior Olivia Snyder (Navarre, Ohio).
The Zips return to competition hosting the Campbell/Wright Invitational on Friday and Saturday, May 4-5, at the Lee R. Jackson Track and Field Complex.
