Perry's School-Record Effort Leads Zips at Kent State Qualifier

KENT STATE QUALIFIER: FINAL RESULTS (PDF)
KENT, Ohio – The University of Akron junior Dara Perry (Akron, Ohio) ran a school-record time of 8.38 en route to winning the women's 60-meter hurdles to highlight the Zips' performances at the Kent State Qualifier on Saturday, Feb. 10.
Akron received six first-place finishes on the afternoon and 13 top-three performances.
Winning the men's weight throw with a throw of 65-6 (19.96m), the third-best mark in indoor program history, was senior Phil Jagers (Solon, Ohio).
Junior Abigale Wilson (Carrollton, Ohio) added the third-longest throw in indoor program history in the women's shot put recording a mark of 52-3.75 (15.94m) to place second.
Freshman Noah Williams (Hilton, N.Y.) finished first in the men's 400 meters crossing the line in a career-best time of 47.34. His effort represents the fourth-fastest time in indoor program history.
Senior Garrett Crichlow (Twinsburg, Ohio) won the men's mile in 4:13.00, while redshirt junior Tristan Williams (Akron, Ohio) took the men's 800 meters in a career-best time of 1:53.06.
Sophomore Haley Hess (Curtice, Ohio) rounded out Akron's winning efforts claiming the women's mile in a career-best time of 4:59.10.
Additionally, redshirt junior Maurice Harris (Toledo, Ohio), senior Taron Slone (Columbus, Ohio), redshirt sophomore Tyler Fraker (Delta, Ohio) finished second in the men's shot put (57-1/17.40m), 200 meters (21.44) and pole vault (16-0.75/4.90m), respectively. Harris and Slone each recorded career-best marks.
Akron returns to action hosting the Zips Invitational on Friday, Feb. 16, at the Stile Athletics Field House.
