2018 UNITED SOCCER COACHES D1 MEN'S ALL-AMERICA TEAMS RELEASE
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – University of Akron men's soccer sophomore David Egbo (Enugu, Nigeria) garnered Third-Team All-America accolades when the United Soccer Coaches unveiled its 2018 All-American teams on Thursday, Dec. 6.
Egbo captured All-America accolades for the first time, while the United Soccer Coaches All-America citation is the 59th in the Zips' storied men's soccer history.
A First-Team All-Mid-American Conference performer for the initial time in 2018 was Egbo, who has started 19 of the 21 games in which he has appeared for Akron this season, owning team-high marks in goals (12), points (29), shots (59), shots on goal (22) and game-winners (6), while rating third in assists (5). He paces the MAC in game-winning goals (0.29), while ranking second in goals per game (0.57), third in points per contest (1.38) and in shots per tilt (2.81).
The Zips continue their quest for their second NCAA title when Akron (14-6-2) battles fourth-ranked Michigan State (14-4-4) in the semifinals of the College Cup on Friday, Dec. 7, in Santa Barbara, Calif.
