2018 UNITED SOCCER COACHES D1 MEN'S ALL-NORTH REGIONAL TEAMS RELEASE
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – University of Akron men's soccer sophomore David Egbo (Enugu, Nigeria) added to his impressive Zips' resume on Wednesday, Dec. 5, as the United Soccer Coaches tabbed him as a 2018 First-Team All-North Regional honoree.
Garnering third-team regional accolades for the Zips was senior Abdi Mohamed (Westerville, Ohio).
Earning All-North Regional honors for the first time, Egbo is now eligible to garner All-America accolades when the United Soccer Coaches unveils its 2018 class on Friday, Dec. 7.
A First-Team All-Mid-American Conference performer for the initial time in 2018 was Egbo, who has started 19 of the 21 games in which he has appeared for Akron this season, owning team-high marks in goals (12), points (29), shots (59), shots on goal (22) and game-winners (6), while rating third in assists (5). He paces the MAC in game-winning goals (0.29), while ranking second in goals per game (0.57), third in points per contest (1.38) and in shots per tilt (2.81).
Mohamed has started 21 of the Zips' 22 contests this season owning a goal and four assists, while adding 26 shots, including 12 on frame and has helped Akron's defense to record eight shutouts.
The Zips continue their quest for their second NCAA title when Akron (14-6-2) battles fourth-ranked Michigan State (14-4-4) in the semifinals of the College Cup on Friday, Dec. 7, in Santa Barbara, Calif.
