Five Zips Named to TopDrawerSoccer.com Top 100 Freshmen List for 2018

2018 TOPDRAWERSOCCER.COM MEN'S TOP 100 FRESHMEN POSTSEASON LIST
AKRON, Ohio – University of Akron men's soccer team garnered a national-best five selections when TopDrawerSoccer.com unveiled its 2018 Men's Freshman Top 100 Postseason list on Thursday, Dec. 20, as freshmen Carlo Ritaccio (Westbury, N.Y.), Colin Biros (Canton, Ohio), Sam Tojaga (Erie, Pa.), Marco Milanese (Isernia, Italy) and Pol Hernandez (Teia, Spain) were among those honored.
Ritaccio, who was earlier tabbed as the National Freshman of the Year by TopDrawerSoccer.com, was ranked No. 1 in the tabulation, and was followed by Biros (No. 15), Tojaga (No. 47), Milanese (No. 73) and Hernandez (No. 94).
Ritaccio also earned TopDrawerSoccer.com Freshmen Best XI First-Team accolades, while Biros was tabbed to the Freshman Best XI second team.
A 2018 Second-Team All-Mid-American Conference performer, Ritaccio, started all 22 matches in which he appeared for the Zips at his center back position, helping anchor a Zips' defensive unit along with Hernandez and Milanese that posted eight shutouts this past season, while contributing a trio of goals on the strength of nine shots, including four on goal.
Biros appeared in 23 games for the Zips as a freshman, including making 17 starts. He contributed three goals and four assists on 23 shots, including six on goal on the campaign. His game-winning goal at Stanford in the Elite Eight secured Akron's six College Cup berth in men's soccer program history.
A Second-Team All-MAC award winner, Tojaga, started 21 of the 24 games in which he played this season and owned three assists on 17 shots, including four on goal.
Milanese earned the starting assignment in 21 of the 23 matches in which he appeared and posted a goal and two assists on the strength of seven shots, including two on goal.
Hernandez started 17 of the 22 contests he appeared for Akron as a freshman and recorded one assist, while contributing eight shots, with two falling on frame.
