Women’s Tennis Players Advance in Flight Play at Raider Invitational

DAYTON, Ohio – In women's tennis action, junior Luisa Echeverry (Cali, Colombia) and senior Waverly Wituski (Springboro, Ohio) advanced in the winner's bracket of their respective flights on Friday at Wright State's Raider Invitational.
In Flight 2 singles, Echeverry defeated Bowling Green's Marharita-Sophia Tavpash, 1-6, 6-1, 1-0(4), in the opening round. In the second round, Echeverry dropped a 6-1, 6-3 decision to Dayton's Jackie Kawamoto. Echeverry will play for third place in Flight 2.
In Flight 4 singles, junior Carla Flores (Coahuila, Mexico) fell in her opening match, 6-3, 6-2, to Youngstown State's Tamara Teufl. In her second match, Flores beat Wright State's Anna Marie Reynolds, 6-3. 6-2. She will play in the consolation finals.
In Flight 5 singles, Wituski had a first round bye. In the semifinal, she lost to Dayton's Anna Delaney, 6-1, 7-5. Wituski will play for third place in Flight 5.
In doubles action, Echeverry and Wituski lost to Wright State's Luisa Pelayo and Grace Whitney, 6-3.
The Raider Invitational concludes on Saturday, Sept. 30, with the consolation round and the finals. All matches will be played at Miamisburg High School.
