Zips’ Swimming & Diving Predicted to Capture Fifth Straight MAC Title

AKRON, OHIO- Four-time defending Mid-American Conference Champions, Akron swimming and diving, was chosen to defend its MAC title for the fifth consecutive year, according to the preseason poll voted on by the league's coaches.
Akron returns 22 letterwinners from the 2016-17 squad, including its five returning All-MAC first-team recipients, senior Paloma Marrero Munoz (Merida, Spain), juniors Ragen Engel (Springfield, Ohio), Sadie Fazekas (Windsor, Ontario) and Madison Myers (Akron, Ohio), and sophomore Jackie Pash (Carmel, Ind.). Complementing the Zips' returners is an incoming freshman class made up of five swimmers and a pair of divers.
Buffalo was selected to finish second in the MAC this season, followed by Eastern Michigan, who was picked to finish third.
Akron opens its 2017-18 regular season competition on Oct. 6 with a dual meet against Youngstown State at the Ocasek Natatorium.
