Laryea Makes MLS Debut with Orlando City

AKRON, Ohio - Former University of Akron men's soccer standout Richie Laryea reached the first of many milestones in his professional career this past Saturday, June 24, making his Major League Soccer debut for Orlando City.
"It is always excited to see former great players for the University of Akron get their chance in the MLS," Akron head coach Jared Embick explained. "I know Richie has worked hard for this opportunity and it has been a long time coming. I thought he did really well in his debut. I look forward to seeing him in more games in the future."
Laryea entered Orlando City's road match versus the Chicago Fire on Saturday, June 24, in the 64th minute when he subbed in for Kaká.
The No. 7 overall pick in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft by Orlando City, Laryea has seen extended playing time this season with Orlando City B of the United Soccer League (USL). Laryea is tied for the team lead with three goals and has started each of the nine matches he has appeared in for Orlando City B.
