QUOTING AKRON HEAD COACH DENNIS MITCHELL: "After five very intense weeks of meets many of our athletes will not competing this week. They need a weekend to train through and prepare for the long haul, which is the championship part of our season. The other half of the team will benefit from competition this weekend in order to better develop through competition. Some of our student-athletes are still in search of securing their Conference or NCAA Championship qualifying marks and with Ashland being so close, we have a lot of options. It gives those that have not been traveling a good chance to show how much they have improved."
