AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron track and field team turned in six top-10 performances to close out the Zips' efforts at the Jesse Owens Classic hosted by Ohio State on Saturday, April 22.

Senior Sean Poholski (Barberton, Ohio) posted Akron's top finish placing fourth in the 800 meters with a career-best time of 1:50.89.

Earning a fifth-place showing in the women's long jump with a mark of 18-11.75 (5.79m) was senior Ana Martin-Sacristan (Valencia, Spain).

Finishing seventh, eighth and 10th, respectively, in the men's pole vault, women's 400-meter hurdles and women's 800 meters was redshirt freshman Adam Alexander (Tiffin, Ohio), redshirt junior Michalla Gordon (Wadsworth, Ohio) and redshirt sophomore Mackenzie Andrews (Toowoomba, Australia). Alexander eclipsed 14-11.50 (4.56) in the men's pole vault, while registering times of 1:02.09 and 2:12.51 in the women's 400-meters hurdles and 800 meters was Gordon and Andrews.

The women's 4x400 relay squad of junior Stephanie Hale (Cleveland, Ohio), freshman Iman Batiste (Dublin, Ohio), Gordon and freshman Bailey Lack (Brunswick, Ohio) placed eighth with a time of 3:57.01.

Akron returns to action next weekend competing at the Ashland Alumni Invitational and the Hillsdale College Gina Relays.
