Paloma Marrero Honored as MAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio- University of Akron senior swimmer Paloma Marrero Munoz (Merida, Spain) has been recognized as the Mid-American Conference Women's Swimmer of the Week, the league announced on Thursday, Dec. 7.

During the three-day Zippy Invitational, Marrero completed three first-place finishes to help secure the Zips' fourth-consecutive Zippy Invitational cup with a total score of 2,059.5.

In the 200 IM, Marrero had a first-place finish with a 2:00.48 time, followed by touching the wall first in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:00.47.

On the final day of competition, Marrero swam the 200 breaststroke in a blazing time of 2:08.51 which is the ninth fastest time in the nation in the event to date. Her time smashed the previous conference record of 2:09.79, and earned her the new program, meet, and pool record.
