De Vera and Gainford Earn TopDrawerSoccer.com National Honors

TOPDRAWERSOCCER.COM MEN'S SOCCER NATIONAL TEAM OF THE WEEK RELEASE
AKRON, Ohio – University of Akron men's soccer seniors Niko De Vera (Camas, Wash.) and Sam Gainford (Liverpool, England) garnered national accolades when TopDrawerSoccer.com named the Zips' duo to its Men's Soccer National Team of the Week on Nov. 21.
De Vera was named to the starting XI, while Gainford earned honorable mention recognition.
De Vera helped anchor a defensive unit for Akron that limited No. 22 Seattle to only four shots, including two on goal, in the Zips' 3-0 shutout victory past the Redhawks on Nov. 19 in the second round of the NCAA Men's Soccer Championship. Seattle came into the showdown leading the NCAA in shots and shots on goal per game.
De Vera also contributed a pair of passes offensively which directly let to a pair of second-half goals for the Zips.
Gainford netted the game-winning tally for Akron against the Redhawks with his eighth goal of the season at the 6:27 mark. He finished the contest registering a game-high four shots, including two on frame.
The third-rated Zips (17-3-1) will host No. 13 Wisconsin (12-4-5) on Saturday, Nov. 25, in the third round of the NCAA Men's Soccer Championship in a 4 p.m. tilt at FirstEnergy Stadium – Cub Cadet Field.
Tickets for Saturday's game are available now by calling or texting the Akron ticket office at 888-99-AKRON (25766) or visiting The C.P. and Cornelia S. Chima Athletics Ticket Office at InfoCision Stadium - Summa Field (located at 375 E. Exchange Street, near Gate 1 at the southwest corner of the venue, at the corner of E. Exchange and S. Union streets) Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Season ticket holders can purchase their same seats for the NCAA games by calling our texting the ticket office.
Prices for all NCAA games are $15 for reserved, $10 for General Admission and we have a family four pack in general admission for $35.
