AKRON, Ohio- The Akron swimming and diving team continued to impress at day two of the Magnus Cup Invitational breaking five pool records that gave them a combined score of 1,163.5 on Saturday, at the Robert F. Busbey Natatorium.

The Zips' swimmers came in first-place in all six of the swimming events, while on the boards, Akron took first in the three-meter diving event.

The Akron relay teams dominated on the second day of competition. In the 200-medley relay, the Zips clocked in at 1:38.50. The squad made up of junior Madison Myers (Akron, Ohio), junior Sadie Fazekas (Windsor, Ontario), senior Paloma Marrero Munoz (Merida, Spain), and sophomore Ellie Nebraska (Columbus, Ohio) broke a pool record set in 2016 by Akron (1:39.69). The Zips ended the evening just as they began in the 800-free relay with a first-place finish (7:20.59). The quartet of Fazekas, Nebraska, Myers, and freshman Paulina Nogaj (Radom, Poland) broke the pool record that was set back in 2014 (7:21.28) which is now the fourth-fastest time in program history.

In the 400 IM, Marrero Munoz broke a pool record and school record with her blazing first-place time of 4:16.59. That time now stands as the fastest time in program history. Nogaj broke the pool record in the 100 fly with a first-place time of 53.32. That time set the new pool record that was previously swam by Fazekas last season by .01.

Nebraska closed out the 200 freestyle with a 1:49.10 first-place finish, followed by Marrero with another win in the 100 breaststroke clocking in at 1:01.97. Myers smashed the pool record in the 100-back event touching the wall at 52.78. The previous record was set by Myers last year.

Sophomore Karly Crail (Edgewood, Ky.) completed a sweep of the diving portion of the invitational as she placed first in the three-meter dive this afternoon with a score of 296.35.

The Zips close out the Magnus Cup tomorrow, Nov.19, at 9 a.m. beginning with the preliminary rounds, and finals at 3 p.m.
