Women’s Tennis to Play in Viking Invitational

AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron women's tennis team will participate in the second annual Viking Invitational, hosted by Cleveland State, on Oct. 6-8.
The three-day tournament, which features Akron, Cincinnati, West Virginia, and host Cleveland State, features singles and doubles play each day. The complete schedule is listed below. All matches will be played at CSU's Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion (2005 Chester Avenue).
At the conclusion of weekend play, a Viking Invitational Singles champion and a Doubles champion will be crowed. Points will be awarded based on line-up position.
The Zips open tourney play with singles matches against West Virginia on Friday at 10 a.m.
Last weekend, the Zips participated in Wright State's Raider Invitational where junior Luisa Echeverry (Cali, Colombia) and senior Waverly Wituski (Springboro, Ohio) captured third in their respective singles flights.
Echeverry played In Flight 2 singles, while Wituski competed in Flight 5 singles.
Junior Carla Flores (Coahuila, Mexico) won the consolation bracket in Flight 4 singles action.
After two fall tournaments, freshman Anna Uljanov (Schweinfurt, Germany) remains undefeated in singles play with a perfect 3-0 record, while Echeverry stands 5-1 in singles play.
