MID-AMERICAN CONFERENCE TRACK AND FIELD ATHLETES OF THE WEEK RELEASE
CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Mid-American Conference unveiled its weekly MAC Track and Field Athletes of the Week recipients on Tuesday, Jan. 24, and University of Akron standouts junior Terrell McClain (Youngstown, Ohio) and freshman Lucy Bryan (Bristol, England) were honored.
McClain was named the MAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week after establishing a school-record mark of 25-7.25 (7.80m) en route to capturing the men's long helping lead Akron to a dual-meet victory past rival Kent State on Jan. 20. The effort also represented the fifth-best jump nationally in 2017.
Bryan was honored as the MAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week for the second consecutive week after garnering top honors in the women's pole vault at the Kent State Dual, eclipsing 14-1.25 (4.30m). Her effort represented the fourth-best jump nationally in 2017 and stands as the third-highest mark in Akron women's indoor track and field history.
The accolades represent the third and fourth individual awards, respectively, for a Zip in 2017.
Akron returns to action this Friday and Saturday, Jan. 27-28, as the Zips travel to University Park, Pa., to compete at the Penn State National.
