AKRON, Ohio – On Friday, Sept. 30, the three-time reigning Mid-American Conference champion Akron swimming and diving team travels to Bowling Green, Ohio, to take part in the annual Tom Stubbs Relays at the Cooper pool on the campus of Bowling Green State University.
At the helm of the Zips program is fourth-year head coach Brian Peresie. Peresie has flourished since taking over in Akron leading the Zips to three-straight MAC titles and has been named MAC Coach of the Year three years running.
"This is a really fun meet that the team looks forward to competing in each year," said head coach Brian Peresie. "The meet gives us an opportunity to get a lot of different looks in different events. It will begin to give us an idea of what we need to work on in the weeks ahead."
The Zips return 24 letterwinners from their championships team a year ago, including eight members of the team who have been with Peresie since the beginning of Akron's historic run. Peresie also brought in a freshman class made up of five swimmers and a pair of divers.
