The Mid-American Conference Announces 2016 Women's Soccer Preseason Poll

AKRON, Ohio – The Akron Zips women's soccer team has been predicted to finish fifth overall in the Eastern Division in the 2016 Mid-American Conference women's soccer preseason poll on Monday, as selected by the leagues head coaches.
Under the guidance of second-year head coach Noreen Herlihy, the Zips are coming off a trip to the 2015 MAC tournament for the first time since 2009 and advanced to the semifinal round for the first time in program history by upsetting the No. 1 seeded Ball State in penalty kicks.
UA boasted a 3-8 MAC record in 2015 with wins over Ohio, Toledo and Northern Illinois and went 6-13-2 overall in the regular season.
Kent State is predicated to come out of the Eastern Division atop of the standings at the end of the regular season followed by Miami (Ohio) and Buffalo.
Ball State is the heavy favorite to come out of the Western Division as the regular season champion with Western Michigan and Central Michigan to follow.
There is a three-way tie for the predicted winner of the 2016 MAC championship with Ball State, Central Michiagn, and Kent State all receiving three votes.
Akron returns 14 letterwinners for the 2016 season along with 13 newcomers to the roster.
The Zips recently defeated St. Francis (Pa.) in their lone exhibition match of the 2016 preseason, 3-1.
Women's soccer season tickets are just $40 for general admission. Fans who have 2016 men's soccer season tickets can add a women's Family Plan for just $40 total. Discounted season tickets are available for current UA Faculty and Staff at $32. Single-game and group tickets will be available beginning in early August.
