2016 CIGAR AND COGNAC EXPERIENCE INFORMATIONAL SHEET
AKRON, Ohio - Akron Athletics will offer a unique opportunity for Akron men's soccer fans and alumni to gather to celebrate the program's rich history as the Zips will host the Second Annual Cigar and Cognac Experience on Saturday, Aug. 27, at Prime 93 in Akron.
The event as part of Alumni Weekend will provide a unique opportunity for alumni and Akron men's soccer fans to interact while enjoying selected pairings of cigars and cognac.
The inaugural Cigar and Cognac event generated funds that enabled the Zips to travel to Brazil for a foreign training trip in May 2015. The games and overall experience in Brazil brought the team together on and off the field and was a valuable driving force that enabled Akron to reach the NCAA College Cup for the fourth time in program history.
To stay at the pinnacle of the college game takes great players, coaches, support staff, loyal alumni and great fans! Funds raised at events like the Cigar and Cognac Experience allow the Zips to remain at the top and to travel the globe, to find and recruit the best players, schedule the country's top teams, play and train in world-class facilities and represent The University of Akron with class and pride.
On Friday, Aug. 26, the Zips open their 2016 campaign hosting No. 7 Georgetown at 7:30 p.m. at FirstEnergy Stadium – Cub Cadet Field. A March to the Match festivities will precede the game with alumni invited to gather at Bricco following the match.
On Saturday, Aug. 27, the alums may watch team training at 11 a.m. before attending the Cigar and Cognac Experience at 6 p.m.
Alumni weekend will be capped by the finale of the Akron Classic as the No. 2 Zips battle 10th-ranked Seattle in a 7:30 p.m. tilt at FirstEnergy Stadium – Cub Cadet Field.

Friday, Aug. 26
7:00 p.m. March to the Match with the team and AK Rowdies
7:30 p.m. Men's soccer vs. No. 7 Georgetown
9:30 p.m. Post-game outing (Bricco – 1 West Exchange St., Akron, OH 44308)
Saturday, Aug. 27
11:00 a.m. Men's Soccer Team Training (Shrank Field – Open to all alums who would like to attend)
6:00 p.m. Cigar and Cognac Event [Fundraiser] (Prime 93 – 4315 Manchester Rd., Akron, OH 44319)
Sunday, Aug. 28
7:30 p.m. Men's soccer vs. No. 10 Seattle
Cost:
Cigar and Cognac Event – $100 per person (on or before Aug. 22, 2016/$200 after Aug. 22, 2016)
Soccer alumni will receive an Akron scarf and up to four (4) complimentary tickets for the soccer game if they would like to attend.
