MEN'S COLLEGIATE DUAL MEET RANKINGS (WEEK 4)
AKRON, Ohio - The Akron track and field program continued to receive national recognition for the Zips' efforts this season in the latest weekly men's collegiate dual meet rankings of 2016, as compiled by Jesse Squire for Track and Field News.
The Zips' men's team rose to No. 5 nationally, including attaining at No 2 ranking in the Midwest region.
Akron currently has nine student-athletes ranked in the top-25 nationally by the Track and Field Results Reporting System (TFRRS), including sophomore Terrell McClain (Youngstown, Ohio), who owns the No. 2 mark nationally in the men's long jump (26-1).
Also rated among the top-25 is senior Claudia Garcia Jou (Barcelona, Spain) (third in high jump/6-1.25), junior Phil Jagers (Solon, Ohio) (fourth in discus/201-2), redshirt senior Caroline Hasse (Potsdam, Germany) (13th in pole vault/13-11.75), junior Clayton Murphy (New Paris, Ohio) (14th in the 800 meters/1:47.38), sophomore Jackie Siefring (Covington, Ohio) (14th in heptathlon/5,627 and 19th in 400M-hurdles/57.61), senior Joe Oduho (Erie, Pa.) (19th in long jump/25-3.25), junior Matt Rowland (Bellevue, Ohio) (20th in pole vault/17-4.50), redshirt junior Mike Ohiembor (Dayton, Ohio) (22nd in triple jump/51-4.25) and redshirt junior Quentin Cieslinski (Madison, Ohio) (24th in decathlon/7,109).
Additionally, the men's 4x400 relay quartet of junior Miles Baldwin (Cincinnati, Ohio), redshirt seniors Sean Weems (Maple Heights, Ohio) and Brent Gray (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Murphy own the 23rd-best time (3:07.36) in the nation.
Akron returns to action traveling to Baton Rouge, La., to compete at the LSU Alumni Invitational this Friday and Saturday, April 22-23.
