2016 NSCAA ALL-AMERICAN MEN'S SOCCER RELEASE
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - University of Akron men's soccer senior Adam Najem (Clifton, N.J.) garnered All-America accolades when the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) unveiled its 2016 All-American teams on Friday, Dec. 9.
Najem earned All-America status for the second consecutive campaign being named as a third-team selection. In 2015, he was honored as a second-team recipient.
The NSCAA All-America citation is the 56th in the Zips' storied men's soccer history. Najem becomes the 15th Akron player to earn multiple All-America awards during their Zips' career and first since Scott Caldwell did so in 2011 and 2012, respectively.
A four-time first-team All-Mid-American Conference honoree and 2016 MAC Player of the Year, Najem, started all 22 games for Akron this past season en route to ranking second on the squad in goals (5), assists (5) and shots (47) and third in shots on goal (17).
Najem capped his brilliant Akron career this past season ranking first, first, fourth, sixth, 10th and 18th, respectively, among active career players in NCAA Division I for the 2016 campaign in games played (89), assists (29), points (95), goals (33), assists per game (0.33) and points per contest (1.07). Across all divisions, he rated seventh in games played and 16th in assists.
