AKRON, Ohio - A pair of freshmen for the University of Akron men's soccer team in Nick Hinds (Plantation, Fla.) and Jonathan Lewis (Plantation, Fla.) were honored among the nation's best when TopDrawerSoccer.com unveiled the list of its 2016 Men's Division I Postseason Top 100 Freshmen.
Lewis, the 2016 Mid-American Conference Freshman of the Year, was tabbed at No. 13 on the list, while Hinds, a second-team All-MAC selection, was honored at No. 25.
Lewis scored a pair of goals in 2016 and led Akron in assists (12), scoring (16) and shots on goal (21), while ranking third on the team in shots (44). His 12 assists were tied as the top mark nationally across the NCAA in Division I.
On the campaign, Hinds registered five goals and four assists for 14 points on 34 shots, including 12 on goal. He played primarily on defense up until the start of November, where he helped the Zips earn 11 shutouts this past season.
