2016 ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICA® DIVISION I MEN'S/WOMEN'S SOCCER TEAMS RELEASE
AKRON, Ohio – University of Akron senior Adam Najem (Clifton, N.J.) added another honor to his impressive collegiate resume with his selection to the 2016 Academic All-America® Division I Men's Soccer Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Najem, who maintains a 3.751 grade-point average pursuing a bachelor's degree in marketing management, was one of 11 student-athletes nationally honored as third-team Academic All-Americans for Division I.
A four-time first-team All-Mid-American Conference honoree and 2016 MAC Player of the Year, Najem was recognized in 2015 as a first-team National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Academic All-American.
Najem becomes the 11th Zip to garner CoSIDA All-America accolades in the sport of men's soccer, and the first since Reinaldo Brenes, a two-time recipient, garnered third-team honors in 2013.
The award marks the 18th time in program history in which an Akron men's soccer standout has been selected to the national CoSIDA Academic All-America squads, first-, second- or third-teams, respectively.
