AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron men's golf team returns to action on Monday and Tuesday, Oct 3-4, hosting The Firestone Invitational at the par-72, 7,125-yard Firestone Country Club North Course.
The 54-hole Firestone Invitational is scheduled to begin on Monday at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start and continuous play for 36 holes. Tuesday's final round is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. with split tee times on holes No. 1 & No. 10.
The 16-team field includes: host Akron, Ball State, Cincinnati, Dayton, Eastern Michigan, Francis Marion, Furman, Georgetown, Illinois State, Marshall, Ohio, Old Dominion, South Carolina Aiken, Chattanooga, Western Kentucky, and Xavier.

The Zips' five-man roster includes senior J.B. Williams (Danville, Ky.), sophomore Elliott Grayson (Shelby, N.C.), junior George Baylis (Ascot, England), senior Yann Pfeiffer (Saint-Nom-la-Bretèche, France), and Senior Zach Gollwitzer (Baldwin, Mo.).
Also Joining Zips at the tournament and competing as individuals are junior Chandler Morgan (Lexington, Ky.), sophomore Jacob Appleby (North Canton, Ohio), freshman Mitchell McFarland (Wheelersburg, Ohio), and freshman Harrison Vonderau (Columbus Station, Ohio).
In 2015, Maryland won the tournament by two strokes over Akron with scores of 284, 285, 287 – 856 (-8). Maryland's David Kocher earned medalist honors with a 9-under par 207 two-day total on rounds of 68, 68, and 71.
