TOLEDO, Ohio – The University of Akron men's golf team fell to 14th place at the Inverness Intercollegiate. The Zips played well on the front 9 (holes 10-18), however, the back 9 (holes 1-9) of the Inverness Club championship course challenged them all three rounds.

"I want to thank the University of Toledo and Inverness Club for hosting a phenomenal event," head coach David Trainor said. "The entire field had the opportunity to taste what a major championship golf course feels like, and it definitely won this week. Inverness is by far one of the greatest tests of golf in the world."
"For the most part, today was a fun day to be a part of. We played some great golf until we hit probably the hardest 5-hole stretch in golf," Trainor continued. " I said before our season started, that our first two events were going to be our hardest events, and they were - from a field and golf course standpoint. We did not finish the way we wanted to, but more importantly we know what we need to work on. This team has many strengths, but still too many weaknesses.
In the final round, sophomore George Baylis (Ascot, Englandwill) emerged as the Zips' leader with a 1-over par, 72-stroke effort for a 226 (+13) tournament total.
