Akron Men's Soccer soars in latest national polls

AKRON, Ohio – On the strength of a 4-1 overall mark, including a trio of victories over top 20 ranked opponents, the University of Akron men's soccer team made a strong jump in the latest national polls released on Monday, Sept. 14.
The Zips moved from No. 22 to seventh in the latest College Soccer News Top 30, with triumphs at No. 6 Maryland last Monday, Sept. 7, and a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over No. 14 Saint Louis on Friday, Sept. 11, at FirstEnergy Stadium – Cub Cadet Field.
Akron also made its season debut in the TopDrawerSoccer.com Top 25 checking in at No. 11 in the latest rankings released on Monday, Sept. 14. The Zips garnered votes in the preseason poll.
Akron (4-1) returns to action hosting in-state rival Ohio State on Wednesday, Sept. 16. Game time at FirstEnergy Stadium – Cub Cadet Field is set for 7 p.m.
