Akron Announces 2015 Women's Volleyball Schedule

AKRON, Ohio – First-year head coach Tom Hanna announced the University of Akron's 2015 women's volleyball schedule, which includes eight Mid-American Conference home matches to be played at James A. Rhodes Arena, on Monday.
"I'm excited about our 2015 schedule, and I'm ready to begin my first season leading the Zips," Hanna said. "Our non-conference schedule should have us well prepared for the rigors of the MAC season. With 12 home matches this season, there are plenty of opportunities for Zips' fans to come out and support us."
The Zips open the 2015 slate at Western Illinois' tournament on August 28 where they'll face SIU-Edwardsville, Drake, and host WIU.
In the home opener on Sept. 1, Akron hosts Cleveland State.
The Zips then entertain Canisius, Navy, and St. Francis (Pa.) in their own Akron Invitational on Sept. 4-5.
UA returns to road tourney play at Wright State (Sept. 11-12) and Morehead State (Sept. 18-19) before opening conference play.
The Zips begin MAC play at Buffalo (Sept. 24) before hosting Ball State (Sept. 26) in their league home opener. Road MAC play continues at Bowling Green (Oct. 2) and Miami (Oct. 3).
Akron returns home for back-to-back weekends of MAC action, hosting Ohio (Oct. 9), Kent State (Oct. 10), Northern Illinois (Oct. 16), and Western Michigan (Oct. 17).
The Zips head to Central Michigan (Oct. 23) and Eastern Michigan (Oct. 24) before facing Buffalo (Oct. 29) at home. UA heads to Toledo (Oct. 31).
Akron's final home weekend includes Miami (Nov. 6) and Bowling Green (Nov. 7). The team closes out the 2015 campaign at Kent State (Nov. 13) and Ohio (Nov. 14).
The 2015 Mid-American Conference tournament is slated for Nov. 19-22 at Ohio University.
Akron returns 10 letterwinners in 2015.
Volleyball season tickets are just $40 for general admission. Discounted season tickets are available for current UA Faculty and Staff at $32. Special experiences are also available for group outings of 20 or more fans to any home game this season, starting at $4 per ticket. Single-game will be available beginning in early August.
Season tickets can be purchased online at GoZips.com/tickets, by calling 1-888-99-AKRON (25766), or at the C.P. and Cornelia S. Chima Athletics Ticket Office. The ticket office is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
