Women's Tennis Travels to Buffalo for Last MAC Road Match

AKRON, Ohio— The University of Akron women's tennis team closes out Mid-American Conference road play at Buffalo on Saturday, April 11. The match between the Zips (9-11 overall, 1-5 MAC) and the Bulls (6-9 overall, 2-3 MAC) will begin at 1 p.m. at the Miller Tennis Center.

Last weekend, the Zips dropped a hard-fought 4-3 match at Ball State in Mid-American Conference action.

In singles action, senior Olga Shkundina (Ufa, Russia) won at No 3 singles, 6-1, 2-6, 6-4, over Toni Ormond. At No. 4 singles, freshman Ariadna Blinova (Riga, Latvia) defeated Ashlyn Rang, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. Sophomore Shannon Newnes (Romford, London) beat Olivia Large, 6-2, 6-2, at the No. 6 spot.
