POWELLS POINT, N.C. – The University of Akron men's golf team fell two spots after turning in a second round 300 (+16) team score at the Outer Banks Intercollegiate hosted by Old Dominion University. The Zips are currently fourth with a two-day total of 578 (+10), trailing the leaders No. 83 Campbell 559 (-9), host Old Dominion 565 (-3), and Bowling Green 565 (-3).
Junior Yann Pfeiffer (Saint-Nom-la-Breteche, France) followed an opening round 70 (-1) with a team-low 72 (+1) to climb five spots on the leaderboard. Pfeiffer enters the final round tied for 10th overall with an even-par 142 total. Senior Ryan Harris (Carlisle, Mass.) carded a second round shot a 76 (+5) to finish 17th overall with a 144 (+2) stroke total while sophomore George Baylis (Ascot, England) turned in a 78 (+7) for a 146 (+4) and 30th overall. Redshirt freshman Elliott Grayson (Shelby, N.C.) and junior J.B. Williams (Danville, Ky.) added scores of 75 (+4) and 77 (+6), respectively, for 148 (+6) and 149 (+7) totals.
Tuesday's final round at the par 71, 6,550-yard Kilmarlic Golf Club is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. ET with split tee times from the No. 1 and No. 10 tees. Akron will open the second round on the No. 1 tee at 9:30 a.m. with Williams teeing off first followed by Grayson (9:39), Baylis (9:48), Harris (9:57), and Pfeiffer (10:06).
