AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron track and field team will host its final indoor meet of the season Friday night with the Zips Invitational at Stile Athletics Field House.
The annual meet will also serve as UA's final tune-up before next weekend's 2014 Mid-American Conference Indoor Championships, which will be hosted by Kent State from Feb. 28-March 1. In all, the Zips will compete against athletes from Buffalo, Robert Morris and Youngstown State in a scored meet.
Field events will begin with the men's and women's pole vault at 7 p.m., with running events getting started at 7:15 p.m. For a complete meet schedule, click here.
Fans should enter through the UA student recreation center main entrance. Tickets are $6 at the door and can be purchased starting at 6 p.m. As part of the Zips ROO-cycle promotion, fans can exhange a pair of shoes (new or gently worn, please) for a dollar discount off the price of admission.
The meet will be streamed on-line at MAC-Sports.com. Live results will also be available throughout the evening here.
The Zips women's team enters the weekend ranked No. 20 by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) while the Akron men are the No. 1-ranked team in the Great Lakes Region.
