CLEVELAND – The University of Akron swimming and diving team, winners of the 2014 Mid-American Conference Championship, has been selected to finish second in the 2015 MAC Coaches Poll, the league office announced on Friday.
Miami (Ohio), who finished in second place at last year's championships, was tabbed as the preseason favorite. Bowling Green (third), Ohio (fourth) and Buffalo (fifth) rounded out the top-five.
Second-year head coach Brian Peresie looks to lead the Zips to back-to-back titles after UA won its first championship in program history. A repeat performance would be the first in the MAC since Eastern Michigan won consecutive titles in 2006 and 2007.
Akron returns 14 upperclassmen and 23 total student-athletes from last season, including all five All-MAC performers.
